The Megalodon

By Lilly Cobb

Four facts about the largest shark in the world: the Megalodon.

One, The Megalodon can reach 60-70 ft long and weight almost 60 tons. Compared to the biggest great white shark ever with 23 feet long and weighs 3 ½ ton. This makes the Megalodon 3 times longer and 20 times heavier.
Two, The Megalodons teeth are 5-7 inches big. The largest is 7.48 inches. Compared to the great whites teeth which were recorded as the biggest was just under 3 inches. The suggested size for the Megalodon's mouth was 7 feet across.
Three, a Megalodon could eat up to half of a Great Blue Whale. It's said that after the Megalodon would eat the Whale the other half would wash up to shore and there would be some of the Megalodon’s teeth still in it or next to it.
Four, A single tooth to the Megalodon is worth $50k. Five, The Megalodon went extinct 2.6 million years ago but in 2014 they think there is still one roaming the water on the earth.
