Monopoly

By Ashten Elliott

One of my favorite card games is Monopoly: Deal. The game is a card game based on the classic Monopoly board game made in 1935 by Parker Brothers the game has been a household name for years. Monopoly can have virtually infinite versions whether they have different themes or play styles the game is always changing which may be why it’s so popular. Since there is a version for everyone that means you have at least tried monopoly even if you don’t like board games you may like the Golden Girls edition. Back to the main focus of this article monopoly deal is a very good card game as I said it is basically just a new play style of monopoly the game can be played with two to five players each starting with five cards and drawing two every turn with a maximum of seven cards kept in your hand. Cards in this game can be either action cards allowing you to trade cards take other players' money cards (like landing on an owned property in the original game) or other things. The second card type is money unlike in the original game you don’t buy things with this money you use it to pay others so that they don’t take your property with action cards. Finally, there are the property cards that work like properties in the original except you just draw them and play them. To win the game you need to be the first to gain three property sets so all two, three, or four cards of the same color to win. Your turn starts by drawing you can then play any three cards in your hand, so I could collect 5 million dollars from you then play a property card then steal one of your properties with an action card. Overall the game is very fun when playing with two players, but I find the best games include three to four players so that there is more variety. I recommend getting this game it is only five dollars and it’s a fun and quick game to play with friends or family.
