Four Queens or Dairy Queen?

By Janet Borchardt

Earlier this year, Four Queens moved into Waverly and created a difficult choice for people in the area to make of where to go for ice cream. I personally believe that Four Queens is the place to go for their homemade cones and sundaes, but Dairy Queen will always be the location to get a good blizzard but I’ve never been able to quite choose one as the superior place. After looking into this further, I’ve discovered that many people at Clarksville Schools have strong opinions on which ice cream spot is their favorite.
First, for Four Queens. Carter Leerhoff, an employee and avid supporter has quite the statement to make. “We are more environmentally friendly. We don’t waste and we recycle. There’s a larger variety on the menu, with more ice cream flavors and items. We are a small business that cares about employees and customers, as opposed to a chain like Dairy Queen.”
Teacher Katie Wedeking also sided with Carter. She states, “Four Queens has a more genuine taste and has homemade options. It also doesn’t melt as fast.”
For Dairy Queen, Ainsley Lovrien mouth-wateringly states, “Dairy Queen has a better quality blizzard. It has a great texture. Whenever I’m in line, I can’t wait to see that cup flip and know it’s mine.”
Grace Litterer adds, “Dairy Queen uses fudge in their blizzards, but Four Queens does not. That’s a must-have.”
Finally, Chloe Ross states, “Dairy Queen has the option of royal blizzards, which is when the middle is filled with hot fudge or something similar. Four Queens can’t top it.”
But what does Clarksville really think? After a survey was conducted with grades 7-12, it was revealed that Dairy Queen is the most popular ice cream spot. However, the vote ended up tallying 59-52, showing that they both are pretty good places, after all.
